Employers invited to meet BA (Hons) Young Children's Learning and Development learners.

Employers in the education sector recently met final year students from Hull College to find about more about their research in the field of childcare and education. The event took place in the Alex Henderson building, home to the Faculty of Business, Health and Technology.

Learners on the BA (Hons) Young Children’s Learning and Development Employer course showcased their work on topics including professional love, forest schools and the impact of 2 year funding.

Students were supported by their mentors and employers, who work in nursery providers across the area, to view their findings. In addition to this representatives from the Local Authority early years team and external academics attended to provide feedback.

Early years education specialist, Trish Curran attended the event as guest speaker. She reported ‘it was a fabulous opportunity for students to showcase their research proposals and have the chance to discuss these with peers, staff and other academics. It was very encouraging to see the College putting such effort and resources into the event and the students seemed to really enjoy talking through their ideas.’

Programme Leader Rachael Tyas said the aim was to give students the opportunity to network with local employers and share their good practice with industry professionals. The programme has a strong integration of theory and practice to prepare our students to progress and effect change within the early years workforce.

The Young Children’s Learning and Development degree programme is recruiting for 2020. Please direct any queries to michelle.cameron@hull-college.ac.uk or Rachael.tyas@hull-college.ac.uk
