          To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2020, we're hoping to dispel the myths and look beyond the outdated stereotypes surrounding apprenticeships.

          We answer the questions you want to know…

          1. Will I just be making tea?

          Today’s apprentices are making a difference, not tea.

          Apprenticeships are full time, paid jobs with continuous training. Many prestigious companies offer them and see the value in training apprentices to fill the ever-growing skills gap.

          2. Will I still get a qualification?

          Yes! Apprenticeship levels range from Level 2 (GCSE) all the way up to Level 6 and 7 (bachelor’s and master’s degree). Plus, there are apprenticeships available for all industries, so don’t let that deter you from looking.

          3. Is it difficult to apply?

          Not at all. We have an Apprenticeship Team on hand ready to guide you through the process and help you get in front of great employers.

          During National Apprenticeship Week 2020, we’ll be in Chesters Reception from 11am – 2pm every day, providing advice and answering any queries you may have. Do feel free to pop in and say hello.

          4. Apprentices don’t seem to earn much?

          The current national minimum rate for an apprentice is £3.90 per hour. This rate applies to those aged under 19.

          The benefit of an apprenticeship is that you earn while you earn. Once you’re qualified, your wage will increase alongside your skills and there will be no tuition fees to pay.

          5. Are apprenticeships just for men?

          6. When I finish will I struggle to find employment?

          Research has shown that apprenticeships boost productively, retention and overall business performance, so more and more employers are now looking to grow their businesses both through taking on apprentices and hiring former apprentices.

          Plus, over 90% of apprentices stay in employment after their course ends. That’s a great statistic and shows how valued their qualifications and experience are.
